In its first 20 years of operation the Zonta Club of Leelanau County accomplished many significant projects, but we still have much work to do. To build on our successes we’ve set three key goals for the upcoming years. We invite you to join with us in helping us to meet these goals.
Good works are rewarding, but we can do more and help more people if the general public knows what we do and why we do it. In the next two years we’ll put an increased emphasis on putting out press releases, listing meetings and activities on community calendars, improving our Web site and exploring all other venues available to us to make the Zonta Club of Leelanau County and our service projects better known. We’d love to make Zonta a household word!
We can do more to help our community if we have more people to share the load. We’re making plans for a major membership drive to recruit new members and will also emphasize retaining the members we have. Our recruiting efforts will focus on, but not exclusively target, women under the age of 50. We believe that new members bring new energy, ideas and enthusiasm to our organization and will make it easier for us to accomplish our service projects and fund our scholarships.
Our members are interested in their community – they prove that every year with our locally focused Zonta service projects, but many members feel a deep need to extend our efforts to include an international service project. We’ll be investigating projects that will help us reinforce Zonta’s mission of advancing the status of women worldwide.
